Melissa George

I first saw Melissa George as an actor in the early years of Home and Away. When I found this image of her in a magazine I wanted to paint her! I painted her with acrylic and tried a new technique of scratching into the paint to create the textures on the wall.

When I went to the central coast, I noticed a lighthouse that you could visit and view. It would light up the ocean when the ships went past.

Freddie Mercury

pencil on paper

21cm x 30cm

I’ve always liked Queen but I’d never drawn any of the band members before. Freddie is one of my favourite singers and it’s interesting that doctors thought his back teeth pushing his other teeth forward gave him such a great voice! I wrote the quote about Freddie and added it to the drawing.

Killer whales look nice but I know they’re dangerous! I wanted to do a killer whale because they remind me of the Free Willy movies.

Fig Tree Wonderland

pen and pencil on paper

My brain decided to have the idea of making a fig tree and be a bit different, to explore different things. I liked the process of printing the image and then working back into it with pens and pencil. My favourite thing about my picture is the colours I put into it.
